Grader Jewelers Repair FAQs

Where does my item go when it is repaired?

Your item is hand delivered to our team of talented jewelers. While we can not disclose the exact location of the repairs due to security reasons, it is in the state of Connecticut. With the exception of certain custom repair designs, your item does not go through the mail.

Can you complete my repair in-store?

Due to the unique nature of every jewelry repair, we will need to assess you item(s) in person. Generally most repairs will need to be sent to our jewelers.

For watch repairs, both locations are equipped to replace most watch batteries and other minor fixes (replacing lug pins, band adjustments) in store. Please see our list of watch batteries we can not replace below.

Can you replace my watch battery?

Most watches, yes! We are unable to work on manual watches. Below is a list of watch brands we do not work on:

  • Movado

  • Skagen

  • Tissot

  • Rado

  • Rolex

  • Atomic watches

  • Concord

  • Cima

How long will the repair take?

Price estimates take approximately 7-14 business days. Once we receive your approval the repair itself can take 1-2 weeks.

What do I need to bring when I drop off a repair?

You only need to bring your item(s). Please have a general idea of how much you initially paid for your item, or what it is appraised at. This information is needed when we write a description in order for it to be covered by our insurance. Most repairs do not require a down payment at the time of drop-off.

Can I get a price estimate in-store or over the phone?

No. While certain repairs have fixed prices, every repair is different and needs to be assessed in person by our trained staff. At the time of drop-off an associate will clean your item(s) and discuss the nature of the repair(s) with you.

How do I check on the status of my repair?

Please ask your associate at the time of drop-off when you might be able to expect your item back. Most repairs will have a Promise Date at the top of your receipt that the item should be back by. The associate will call you as soon as it is ready.

What do I need when I pick up my repair?

Please bring your Claim Check that you received when you dropped off your item. If you lose or forget it, no worries! We also accept a valid form of ID, such as a Drivers License. If someone else will be picking up your repair, please call us ahead of time to authorize the pick-up.

Do you buy jewelry?

We are not purchasing jewelry pieces at this time. We are only accepting items for scrap gold and silver.
